Resolving VLC Subtitle Display Issue During HDR Content Playback
VLC, also known as VLAN, is a highly-regarded HDR video player for desktops. Its simplicity and accuracy make it a top choice for many users. However, there is a known issue that arises when displaying styled subtitles during the playback of HDR content.
This recognized problem manifests as overexposed or completely black colors in styled subtitles when VLC is running HDR content.
Fortunately, the solution is straightforward:
- You can rectify this by removing all styles from your subtitle. A practical method is to convert an ASS subtitle file to SRT format, which proved effective in my case. There are numerous online tools available for converting subtitle files.
- If your subtitle is embedded within the video file, you can either extract it or download a separate subtitle file.
