If you've just deployed a new VPS with RackNerd and found it has no internet access, you're not alone. This post will guide you through the quickest way to resolve this issue.

Quick Fix: Open a Support Ticket

The fastest and most effective solution is to contact RackNerd's customer support. They are typically very responsive and can resolve the issue promptly.

  1. Go to the RackNerd support area: https://my.racknerd.com/submitticket.php
  2. Open a new ticket describing the problem. Mention that your new VPS has no internet connectivity.
  3. Based on my experience, the support team will likely recreate the service instance for you, which should fix the problem.

The Problem in Detail

After creating a new VPS from RackNerd, I discovered that the server had no access to the internet. Basic network troubleshooting commands confirmed the issue:

  • The server would not respond to pings from an external source.
  • Running apt update or any other command requiring internet access from within the VPS would time out.

I attempted several common troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Manually checking and correcting the network configuration.
  • Reinstalling the operating system (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian) from the RackNerd dashboard.

Unfortunately, none of these actions resolved the connectivity problem.

The Solution and Experience

After spending some time trying to fix it myself, I decided to open a support ticket. The customer support team responded very quickly.

They acknowledged the issue and, within a short period, informed me that they had recreated my VPS instance. The new instance worked perfectly right away with full internet access.

If you face the same issue, I recommend contacting their support team to save time.
