I don't know when the YouTube Premium annual plan launched, and I have never seen the option to switch from the `monthly plan` to the `annual plan` in the YouTube app. 

Therefore, I tried to `cancel my monthly plan`, and then I saw the option to subscribe to the annual plan. 

YouTube does not allow monthly plan subscribers to see the annual plan option, which is unfair. 

Additionally, the annual plan `does not renew automatically`, so you don't need to worry about forgetting to cancel the subscription.
